Legal notice and data
This map produces no data. It takes public data, puts it into shape and makes it available free of charge. Here is which data, under which licences, and what is never collected about you.
This page is a translation provided for convenience. The French version is the one that is legally binding.
Where the data comes from
Nothing you see on this map was surveyed by us. Everything comes from public sources, reused under the terms of their licences:
-
The base map — IGN (in French)
The “Géoplateforme” of the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière (the French national mapping agency), distributed under the Licence Ouverte Etalab 2.0 (Etalab Open Licence 2.0).
-
The cycle paths, the prohibitions, the main roads, the businesses — OpenStreetMap
Data © OpenStreetMap contributors, under the ODbL licence. This includes the contact details of the bike rentals, bike shops, stations and charging points shown on the map: this is public data about establishments, not data about people.
-
The towns and postcodes — API Géo (in French)
Data from INSEE (the French national statistics institute) and the Direction interministérielle du numérique (the French government's digital directorate), under the Licence Ouverte (Open Licence).
The IGN base map goes through our server before it is passed on to you. This is not a technical whim: without it, IGN would receive the IP address of every person who looks at the map.
What this map is, and what it is not
It is information made available, free of charge and as is. It is not an official document, nor road signage, nor personalised safety advice.
A sign standing on the ground always takes precedence over this map. Public data contains errors, delays and gaps: a way may be closed to bikes without the map knowing it, and the reverse is also possible. A calculated route is not a guarantee of safety, and in no way does it release you from obeying French traffic law or from watching the road rather than your screen.
The publisher cannot be held liable for the consequences of a decision taken on the sole basis of this map. If you notice an error, report it: it will be corrected and passed on to OpenStreetMap.
Your data: what is not collected
The list is short, because there is nothing.
-
No account, no sign-up
You use the map without creating anything and without accepting anything.
-
Your position does not leave your device
Your location is read by your browser, with your permission, and used on the spot. The route is calculated in your phone. Your location is not sent to any server and is not recorded anywhere.
-
No cookies, no trackers, no advertising
So there is no banner to click. The map settings and the last place you looked at are kept in your browser, on your device, and are not passed on to anyone.
-
No IP address in the logs
The server records the pages requested in order to measure visits, with no IP address, no identifier and no header that would make it possible to recognise a visitor.
If you write to us, we will know the email address you use and what you have chosen to write — nothing else. These messages are used to reply to you and to correct the map; they are neither exploited nor passed on.
If we write to your business
We inform bike rentals, bike shops and bike services that they appear on this map. Their business contact details come from OpenStreetMap, where they are public; this is a communication between professionals relating to their activity.
A reply containing the word “stop” puts a permanent end to all mailings. You can also ask for access to, rectification of or erasure of the information concerning you, or have your establishment removed from the map, by writing to the contact address.

Accessibility
This site is designed to comply with the RGAA 4.1 framework (the French general accessibility guidelines): semantic structure, keyboard navigation, contrast, text alternatives, form labels. A high-contrast mode is available on the map.
A map remains, by nature, visual content: not all the information it carries can be rendered in another way. If something is inaccessible to you, tell us — we will look for an answer, and we will reply to you.
